James Dudley (September 18, 1911 – June 1, 2004) was an employee of the World Wide Wrestling Federation. He was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1994. For years, Dudley worked with the McMahons backstage, starting with the Capital Wrestling Corporation working for Jess McMahon. He then worked in the WWWF, where he became friends with Vincent J. McMahon. When Vince Sr. asked him to manage the site of WWF’s broadcasts, the Turner Arena in Washington, DC, Dudley became the first African-American to run a major arena in the United States. Eventually he became a pseudo-celebrity, exciting crowds when he would run to the ring waving a towel before many of Bobo Brazil’s matches.
