The second son of Dior and Nimloth, Elurin (S."Memory of Elu") departed Tol Galen and came with his family to Menegroth. The Sindar there were prostrate with grief at the loss of their King, Queen, and so many of their kin. Dior determined to raise the realm of Doriath to new glory, but the oath of Feanor shortened his labors prematurely. When the Nauglamir and its Silmaril came to him upon the deaths of Beren and Luthien, the sons of Feanor renewed their hostility against all who withheld the gem from their possession. They assaulted Menegroth, slaying many. Elurin was seized with his brother Elured by the servants of Celegorm and abandonned in the woods. No tale recounts their fate.
