SOAR is a great way to get a head start on meeting new people. Talk to everyone you sit next to even if it's just to ask their major or where they are from. Even if you think you are being obnoxious chances are the people around you are just as anxious to meet other students. There is usually information about some party(s) going on floated around so make sure to write it down somewhere just in case you do end up with nothing to do that day. Volunteering somewhere a few hours a week is always a great way to meet decent or interesting people.
