The Zamagoochie Country is a remote enclave of magic in the Gillikin Country of Oz. When Princess Ozma forbade the general practice of magic in Oz, some lesser wizards and sorcerers retreated to the Gillikin mountains to practice their craft and pursue their recondite studies in private. Zamagoochie is one such locale. Wumbo the Wonder Worker, the father of Kuma Party, lives in a cave on the western slopes of Zamagoochie; within that cave he quietly and contentedly maintains his magic. (The Gnome King of Oz)
