Rayas Kourtis, an Astartes known as 'The Black Angel', served as the first known Lord Commander of the Winged Knights Chapter. There is nothing known about Rayas prior to his induction into the Chapter, but what little is known about the events immediately after he was inducted seems to suggest that he was the first Lord Commander - something that was eventually taken to be undisputed fact.
