Initiative Points (IP) determine the speed at which a character or monster attacks in all Grandia titles. Each character moves along the IP bar during battle at a speed determined by their individual IP. Each character has a base IP but certain spells or items can temporarily boost a characters IP for a period of time making them faster to act.
