The Ape is a starting creature in Black and White 2. He's experimentative, and requires a lot more attention than, say, the more hide-away wolf. He's a relatively good fighter, and knows what he's doing. He's generally the most intelligent out of all the creatures. He is most inclined to be Neutral, suiting his intelligence and moderate combat skills.
