The Shrine of Pestilence is a shrine upriver from Assur dedicated to goals of pestilence, also described as being occupied by the priests of the Dead. It is nestled in a cosy dell and surrounded by vegetation. Its stone work is monolithic rising forty or fifty feet into the air and lavishly decorated with Human skeletons in tortured poses. Inside the atmosphere is said to be dark and oppressive. Therein is a large heavily buttressed hall of which the centre piece is a hideous statue raised on a low obsidian pillar. Standing on either side of the statue will be two acolytes at all times, wearing the traditional Crocodile skins of the servants of Decay. They refer to death as the land of perpetual sleep.
