A navigational deflector was a device that allowed to clear the flight path of a starship of interstellar dust and other space-floating debris. (Spacedock: The Advanced Starship and Construction Manual) When a ship possessed a secondary hull, the navigational deflector was usually installed on the fore section of the secondary hull.
