Major Leo Francis Bodkin (1879 – 30 August 1919) was a British military officer and writer from Ireland. Born in Galway, he was the son of Thomas George Bodkin, RM, and grandson of John James Bodkin DL, MP for Galway. He was educated at Stonyhurst where his brother later became Rector. Studied law at the Royal University of Ireland. Offered a University Commission in the British Army's East Yorkshire Regiment at the time of the Second Boer War. Except for leave periods, the rest of his life was spent in the Orient, India and Russia (acting as an interpreter in the latter).
