The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival is a film festival that was founded 1987 in Austin, Texas. It takes place annually during March of each year and is one of the only film festivals known to be a qualifying festival where filmmakers can be selected for the Oscars and/or the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts).
