Laos and Bangkok are the cheapest. Bangkok is not a country. Bangkok is in Thailand. I don't know about Thailand but it's not that cheap to buy things one needs in Laos, like food. The land is very cheap in Laos, however, and it's quite cheap to build a house and apparently there are no property or income taxes. One can also easily produce food for oneself year-round in Laos. Problems: medical care, tropical diseases, lack of access to typical western commodities in the rural areas, no sewage or potable water outside of Vientiane. Just a point of interest. White people are like movie stars here. Everywhere I go people stare at me and the girls smile invitingly.
