The second round of 2001, held from February 8-11 saw Peugeot driver Harri Rovanperä win for the first and only time. Second and third went to Thomas Rådström and Carlos Sainz respectively. We also saw a guest appearance from Blue Peter presenter at the time, Konnie Huq, as co-driver to Ben Briant. To add to this fact the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V Briant drove was sponsored by Blue Peter. Rovanperä won because of the retirements of other big names such as Marcus Gronholm, Didier Auriol and Tommi Makinen. Richard Burns did not retire but was classified a lowly 16th.
