The Election of 2012 was the 57th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. President Marco Rubio, so far the youngest president ever elected, ran for a second term over Hillary Clinton. While Clinton was popular as the first woman preidential candidate on the ticket of a major party, Rubio used his powerful debating skills and popularity as the first Hispanic president to help get ahead. He promised a "New Reagan Era;" less spending, lower taxes, and less government in general "just like in the Reagan-Gramm era." In a close election Rubio secured a second term, as Clinton had inferior oratorial and debating skills and many Democrats considered her a far-left extremist. However, it was much closer than Rubio's previous election.
