Following the Big Bang, Jefferson tried hard to keep the attention off Alva Industries. She did it as a personal favor for Alva, whose company had meant much to Dakota, and a scandal would mean massive layoffs. Worrying the mayor might cave in under the public's pressure, Alva ordered sensitive material to be removed anyway. The removal of the evidence meant that the grand jury concluded not to prosecute anyone in the Big Bang case.
