Captain of the Line was a positional title in the Imperial Navy granted to officers of the rank of Senior Captain who commanded a tactical unit known as a line of battle. Lines of battle comprised between five and twenty corvettes, frigates or cruisers. Officers of the same rank could often command a single Star Destroyer, which was considered a line in itself in the Navy Order of Battle, or serve as the adjutant to an admiral.
