Herodotus Bancroft (born 1963) entered Kaaterskill Academy of Magic in 1974. Sorted into Bradbury House, he befriended Griffin Lloyd and Ethan Exham, older boys in the house. He was devastated by the disappearance of Griffin Lloyd and the subsequent conviction of Ethan Exham on espionage charges. He aspired to follow in Griffin Lloyd's footsteps and become an auror; however, soon after he completed his education at Kaaterskill, Voldemort and Hafgan were both defeated. Subsequently, Bancroft determined to become a historian. A few years later, Cyrus Flyte appointed Bancroft to teach History of Magic at Kaaterskill. He also became master of Bradbury House. Thus he taught Griffin Lloyd's son, Ethan, and served as his house master.
