The Vice President of Rio Blanco is the second highest political order of Rio Blanco. He/she is elected indirectly, along with the President. The Vice President assumes presidential duties in a caretaker in case of absence or temporary incapacity of the head of state, and may succeed to the Presidency in case of resignation, permanent incapacity, impeachment (and consequent removal from office) or death of the President. Until 2009, the Vice President could not seek for a second term.
