The Lava Fang class was a frigate model designed by the shipwrights of the Raven Alliance. It was the first model of warship designed by the Alliance and was originally intended solely as a testbed for applying a number of captured technologies to a warship. The first vessel was under construction as an Ice Fang class vessel modified to support a second Star of Aerospace fighters when the decision was made to also retrofit it with a number of new laser based technologies. The Lava Fang was undergoing a shakedown cruise when a nearby Alliance world reported that it was under attack, The Lava Fang responded and its performance in the ensuing engagement so impressed Alliance Leadership that, combined with the growing numbers of Pocket Warships in service, the decision was made to put the Lava
