Sellup was twenty-three years old and one of three young women comprising the entourage of performer Nifty Gum. She was so devoted to Nifty that she had no memory of her life before she met him four years previously and clung to him possessively. Poet Avas Didion Flicker thought her an impatient, wide-eyed idiot, who could pant herself unconscious. Sellup had dark brown, springy hair, a narrow, jutting nose, and an expressive monobrow. She never stopped chattering and wore flowered clothing.
