The 1976 Winston 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Talladega Superspeedway on May 2, 1976. Buddy Baker led 135 of the 188 laps as he motored a thirty-five second victory over Cale Yarborough, Baker's only win of the year. Yarborough took the points lead with his runner-up showing, with Benny Parsons (26th) trailing by 49 markers. Stats
