Syrd returned home, renting an upstairs room at the Bubberjack Inn. His mind was plagued by what he had experienced on the island for many years, and his madness eventually drove him to smash up his room; believing that the furnishings were Hassat. This went on until the Hero of Arhok defeated the Shadowjumper, retrieved the Staff of Stars, and redeemed the Utraeans. He thanked the Hero when the eventually came back to Arhok, telling them that their parents would be proud.
