Grid 1138 was the Borg designation of a region of space in the Alpha Quadrant near the Suah'Dron system. It was home to a Federation starbase and other supporting facilities, including a small fleet. In 2377, after the Borg invaders were cut off from the Delta Quadrant, the Borg Queen's diamond entered this grid, accompanied by a small group of Borg assimilators. They detected a Species 8472 presence at the far edge of the grid. Lacking the resources to wipe out Species 8472 on their own, the Borg assimilated the Federation base and fleet, and used their technologies and resources to exterminate Species 8472.
