Fisher started out in junior hockey with the Regina Pats and the Regina Abbotts for three seasons from 1944-47. As the property of the New York Rangers. Fisher played for two and a half seasons for the Rangers before being traded to the Boston Bruins in the middle of the 1950-51 NHL season. By 1952-53 his NHL career was effectively over. A solid offensive player, he was prone to keeping his head down and therefore vulnerable to being hit. He played eight games with the Detroit Red Wings in 1958-59. Fisher retired in 1960. His NHL totals were 275 games played, and 45 goals and 70 assists.
