Zia Woog worked in the Alliance to Restore the Republic's accounting department during the Galactic Civil War. Rebel pilots at that time frequently tested themselves in the unofficial "pilot proving grounds", competing to set the best time on a series of courses through a Rebel salvage yard hidden in an asteroid field. Woog had concerns about the cost of replacing lasers damaged by the pilots, but considered it worth it to improve their skills.
