A ruling staff was a private accessory worn by a government leader primarily a Head of State. Heirs of various Monarchies would receive their own ruling staffs as well in recognition of their future power. Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, Princess of Bright Tree Village, received her ruling staff on her birthday from her father, Chief Chirpa. On that day Chirpa had chosen Kneesaa as the future Chief of their Ewok tribe, and the staff symbolized this. Kneesaa´s staff was made from a branch of the rare Gemwood tree. Chief Chirpa used his ruling staff as a weapon, during the Battle of Bright Tree Village.
