USS Monson (NCC-2392) was a Chandley-class heavy frigate on active duty in Starfleet during the late 23rd century. The initial bloc of these ships were commissioned in the 2270s. A couple of years (ca. 2273) after commissioning, Monson is overtaken by four Klingon K-23-class destroyers in the Triangle. A contingent of Starfleet Marines boards a captured Klingon ship that self-destructs — killing two marine platoons and the entire crew of the Klingon ship.
