It is marked by its low-quality wood due to it being the primary area of attack during the Ironwood War between Gardoria and Thunder's Shore hundreds of years ago, and is a relatively unblanketed weak point in the Gardorian border. As a result, the counts who made up the region requested to form a confederation under the former Duchy of Rimewood also led by House Petwens, and they successfully achieved this in 299 AC.
