After discovering Laelette is a vampire, who conspired with Alva to burn down Hroggar's house, the Dragonborn finds the journal within Alva's coffin in her home. Depending on the status of the Civil War, it is then brought to either Jarl Idgrod Ravencrone or Sorli the Builder.
