The story is told from the perspective of Major Jay Hayes, Lili O'Day, Malcolm Reed and others. On January 17, 2154, the Enterprise is thrown back in time a second time, to July 14, 2037, due to the presence of another Kovaalan particle wake in a subspace corridor in the Delphic Expanse.
