Head to the Explorers Guild to learn that the mist monster is located in the eastern dead end. Due to the narrow time window you are given, it is best to begin traveling at somewhere between 5-6 AM. Head to D-5/3-4, and check the trees. You will soon discover that the monster is just an illusion due to the morning sun casting your shadows on the mist. Return to town and report the results.
