Matt began his career as a staff writer of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Eventually he worked his way up to Co-Executive Producer. He was dismissed from his job at Studio 60, officially for his "outspoken politics". Matt went on to write several screenplays, including the critically acclaimed Removing All Doubt that would be directed by long time friend Danny Tripp.
