Vanda Godsell (17th November 1922 - 11th April 1990) appeared in Coronation Street in January 1961 as Edwin Mason's "lady friend" Hilda Wardle. Although her father was a Naval Officer and her mother was an author, her aunt, Naomi Jacob, was an actress. Born in Bristol, she first acted for Repertoire in her home city at the age of fourteen.
