Jane Larkfield was an assistant at the nursery attended by Bethany Platt and was on duty when grandmother Brenda Fearns “collected” the little girl, supposedly for a dentist’s appointment, but in reality kidnapping the child. Brenda was in a distraught state caused by the recent death of her son, Bethany’s schoolchild father Neil Fearns and Sarah’s eventual refusal to allow Brenda access when she became nervous over her unbalanced manner.
