The 1977 Talladega 500 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Talladega Superspeedway on August 7, 1977. Donnie Allison won his first race of the year in dominating fashion, leading 92 of the 188 laps and holding off Cale Yarborough to the line. Yarborough reclaimed the points lead, holding a 32-point edge on Richard Petty (11th).
