[Source] Sparkstones were objects which could be used to start fires using kindling. While on the planet Halcyon as part of a Republic Judicial Department squad, Wilhuff Tarkin used a sparkstone to create a fire for him and his squadmates, which he then used to cook a rodent he had killed.
