She is an understudy of chief crystal researcher Amereldine, having graduated from a prestigious magic academy in Dalaran, where her thesis was on the effects of magic on fish and other aquatic lifeforms. While a strange topic indeed, fishing so happens to be Satyrnine's most beloved pastime.
