The term almost ready-to-fly or ARF refers to a traditionally constructed model aircraft on which most or all of the major assemblies and/or subassemblies have been completed at the factory. In reference to a foamy, the term is slightly different insofar as aircraft of this type do not have an internal framework. Therefore, a foamy may be a "knocked down" kit requiring complete assembly yet still be referred to as an ARF simply because less assembly is required when compared to a knocked-down traditional balsa and covering kit.
