A short-burst maneuver was a type of maneuver consisting of short, rapid movements performed by a ship. In 2269, the master computer that ran the Shore Leave Planet accessed the computer of the USS Enterprise, ordering a series of short-burst maneuvers. This led Montgomery Scott to the conclusion that it was familiarizing itself with the Enterprise's controls in preparation for an eventual takeover. (TAS: "Once Upon a Planet")
