Dunteth and his men first make themselves known to Guts when they raided Balzac's castle, killing two of the baron's guards as they were about to kill Rita and then freeing the transformed Mandragorans before abducting Casca. Guts later finds Dunteth, who takes him to his group's underground base while telling the swordsman of the tyrant that Balzac became. With Guts still adamant to get the Mandragora heart as part of his deal with Balzac, Dunteth offers his services as his group could use the item to barter with Balzac. However, upon arriving to the village, Dunteth is killed off when the residing Mandragorans go berserk after one of his men plucked a Mandragora from the ground.
