Metsumi was born as the daughter to Sesshirō Ōtsukami and Haru Hanabara sometime after the events of the Fourth Shinobi World War occurred. During her birth, Haru suffered complications during the delivery and as a result, died from maternal death, leaving Sesshirō to take care of the infant Metsumi for most of her life.
