Seraphina Morgenstern was the mother of Valentine Morgenstern, and the grandmother of Sebastian Morgenstern and Clary Fairchild. Seraphina lived with her husband and son, both of whom she loved deeply. When her husband died in combat, she was overcome with grief. Not long after his death, Seraphina died after suffering a heart attack—which, according to Sebastian, Valentine always described as her dying out of grief.
