The Character Select Screen is the main screen of every Super Smash Bros. series game. It gives the players a picture of various characters that they are going to select. In Super Smash Bros. Tourney, there is also animation that is styled like Soul Calibur II and/or Soul Calibur III's Character Select animations, which are preceded by special idle animations. When the announcer calls out the name of a character in Super Smash Bros. Tourney, a shotgun sound effect can be heard, then the character whose name was called out by the announcer will do a special animation right after the shotgun SFX starts.
