Former Russian spy-turned-politician Ilya Gavrik was Harry Pearce's opposite during the Cold War. In Series 10 he proposes a strategic partnership agreement between Russa and the United Kingdom, without the knowledge of the United States Governement. He is married to Elena Gavrik and they have a son, Sasha Gavrik. In the final eposode of Series 10, he murders his wife, after learning that she had been trying to sabotage the plans for the partnership agreement and is planning to push Russia and Britain to war against each other.
