The Vortex of Flames was a testing area for the keepers of the Dragon Flame. According to Bloom, it is incredible and beautiful. In it, also lives the five-headed dragon, which must have been used to train the keeper of the Dragon Flame, but after so many centuries, its power along with the flames of the Vortex grew uncontrollable. Since the Fire Eaters are said to be weak to the vortex's flames, this must be why they cannot go out from it and spread destruction.
