The Complete X-Files: Behind the Series, the Myths and the Movies is a reference book published by Insight Editions that provides an extensive guide to the making of The X-Files series as well as the related films The X-Files Movie and The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Largely including rare photographs as well as text from notated interviews with the cast and crew, the book was written by Matt Hurwitz and Chris Knowles, but also features a Preface by J.J. Abrams, a Foreword by Creator Chris Carter and an Introduction by Frank Spotnitz. The book was first published in November 2008.
