The Mare were likely the original inhabitants of the region in Korel bearing the same name. They were lumped into the category of "ignorant tribes", non-human that had been encountered by the First Empire along with the Barghast, Trell, Tartheno, Fenn, Jhag, Krinn and Jheck.
