Lieutenant Hayes was a Starfleet officer assigned to the USS Enterprise-D in 2370. When a malfunctioning photon torpedo had to be retrieved by a shuttle, Hayes was the shuttle pilot on duty, but Captain Picard insisted on piloting the shuttle himself. (TNG: "Genesis" ) This character was only mentioned in dialogue.
