Captain Tsubasa: Golden-23 (キャプテン翼 GOLDEN-23) is the fourth regular series of the Captain Tsubasa manga series. It is the sequel to Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002. Starting one week after Road to 2002, the main focus of the story is Japan's U-22 team (coached by Kozo Kira and with Misaki as the key player) in their efforts to classify to the Olympics without their overseas players Tsubasa, Hyuga, Aoi and Akai), with the exception of Genzo Wakabayashi, who had a fall out with Hamburger SV coach due to Wakabayashi's actions in Road to 2002 and joins the team. The story also covers Tsubasa's achievements in La Liga, now as captain and game maker instead of the injured Rivaul.
