The League Deposit Insurance Agency, or LDIA, was a government agency designed to back the Solarian credit, the standard currency of the Solarian League, and ensure the stability of the network of sector banks that formed the basis for the gigantic star nation's financial system. Supported and supervised by the Ministry of the Treasury and the Ministry of Commerce, it was designed to stabilize any sector economy whose bank got into serious trouble, insuring deposits and making sure that any legally issued credits of that bank were honored.
